Valencia is a wonderful place to live, but administration can be daunting-and extremely time consuming. And of course, everything else that comes with moving to a new country can add up to your already busy schedule. That's where a personal assistant, fluent in Spanish and with a knowledge of the local administration, can be invaluable. My wife Erika and I met briefly with Linda during our initial short exploratory visit to Valencia. Once we had decided that Valencia was the city we wished to move to, it was clear that the entire process would be easier with Linda's help. During our preparation phase from the UK, Linda promptly answered all questions we had and provided advice and web links to sites that provided further information. Whilst preparing for our move to Valencia from the UK, we had the need to ship a number of boxes to Spain. As we still had no address in Valencia, Linda kindly agreed to take delivery and store the boxes until our arrival. Once we arrived, Linda provided invaluable assistance with lease reviews, obtaining our NIE, arranging bank accounts, etc. However, her help is not just limited to those administrative areas. Linda will help in all things wherever she can. On our drive to Valencia from the UK, our car failed 200Km out of Valencia. Due to the location where this occurred (no car rental agency nearby) we were left with a significant problem. One phone call to Linda and in a few minutes a way forward was found - 2 hours later Janis appeared. All our belongings were transferred to Janis's car and he drove us back to Valencia and, once there, helped us unload everything in to our apartment. We have made many new friends since moving to Valencia, many of them through introductions made by Linda. Throughout my entire working career I have always adopted an approach whereby I do what I do and I leave what I don't know to those that do. Had I tried to manage our move to Valencia on my own, I have no doubt that in time, and with mistakes, I would have managed it.
